The tap & pay functionality is convenient but also a great risk as anyone can make a payment up to R500 should your card gets lost. It is also not possible to decrease the daily R500 payment limit to a smaller amount, it’s only possible to deactivate the service. After deactivating the service, it can only be reactivated by inserting the card with the next payment.

My suggestion is to add a functionality to amend the maximum tap payment amount and add a temporary limit. If one can set your tap payment permanent limit to R1 and be able to increase it in the app just before making a tap payment, it will remove the risk of unauthorized payment. The temporary limit should then reset automatically to the R1 permanent limit after 12 hours.

Hi Duppie, the black card works like your normal gold card, however it has the ‘tap to pay’ functionality. This functionality can be de-activated.
1. Tap Cards
2. Enter Remote PIN
3. Choose Debit Card or Credit Card
4. Tap Tap to pay
5. Tap Off (Tap to pay will display Off: Pending)
6. Do a chip-and-PIN transaction by inserting the card into a card machine or ATM to complete the tap to pay deactivation
7. Follow steps 1 – 5 to check if the deactivation was successful, Tap to pay should display Off

The Best Banking App

First off, this app is a game-changer! 🙌 Whether it’s checking balances, making payments, or managing savings, the Capitec App is my go-to for everything finance. The Simplicity and Speed are unmatched—no more waiting in lines or dealing with complicated banking processes! Most Used Feature? Definitely the Scan to Pay—it’s like magic at the checkout counter! And the fact that I can buy airtime or electricity directly from the app? Total lifesaver. 💡 Least Used? Probably the Financial Education Tools. Not because they’re not useful—they totally are! But with life being so busy, I’ve only had time to dabble here and there. Definitely planning to explore more, though. Do I use this app daily? You bet! The ease of transferring funds, buying essentials, and even splitting the bill after lunch with friends makes it an everyday essential. Security? Capitec has nailed it. 🔒 I feel super secure with all the app’s safety features. No worries here! Wish List? Savings Challenges, fun, engaging way to encourage savings through challenges or competitions with friends, where users can earn rewards or badges for reaching savings milestones. Would I recommend it? Absolutely! Whether you’re a banking pro or a newbie, the Capitec App is designed to make life easier, and I can’t recommend it enough. 🌟

Massive improvement!

The app is a massive improvement over the previous version. I badly wanted biometric security to be available, and it‘s finally present. The track feature is a great addition and will surely help with saving. I do however really hope that the system learns for future reference when you categorize uncategorized transactions, and when you change transactions from one category to another, otherwise it will prove to be too cumbersome and perhaps useless. Things I do really want: Why can I not swipe from the left to go back to the previous screen? This works on every app in iOS except this one, very unintuitive to reach to top left corner the whole time. Very irritating. If loading times could be sped up that would be great as well, as I don’t really understand why every page must load first. Also, is there a possibility to bring the app to iPad? I would love to have the app on my iPad as well and for it to sync with my phone, but I understand if that’s impossible for security reasons. Lastly, when categorizing it is cumbersome to tap on the small dot the whole time, please allow users to tap on the word/name/bar. Thanks for the great work!
